| Lou Ellison started as an independent consultant in 1978 on contract to the MOD. He was at Acoustic Vibration and Technology Ltd 1980-1982 with a short break working again on defense projects, with Vibronoise Ltd 1982 to late 1995 latterly as its Managing Director, and then he formed NVM Ltd in January 1996. NVM Ltd purchased the main operating assets of Vibronoise Ltd early in 2000. This merger had considerably added to the knowledge base to NVM and Lou Ellison as well. Vibronoise was well known for its vibration troubleshooting work with client companies such as Shell Expro, etc.
Lou Ellison held senior positions in both commercial and management positions for various noise and vibration consultancies. Experience was gained on project working at all levels with most types of client organizations. Lou Ellison has worked on projects for clients in the UK and abroad. His main area of work concerns machinery/plant vibration and structural vibration; he brings an experienced and practical approach to these problems. Noise and vibration issues connected with semiconductor microcircuit manufacturing facilities are particular specialties. Lou Ellison has a strong interest in low frequency noise/vibration environmental effects upon people due to low speed machinery and transport. In recent years, condition based maintenance has been included under his management. He has a good working knowledge of standards, codes, working procedures, computers, software, and instrumentation.
