| Managing director, Lou Ellison C.Eng. M.Sc. MBA. MIEE. MIOA., formed NVM Ltd in January 1996 following more than 20 years in private consultancy.
Lou's initial engineering training was at Ferranti in areas as diverse as transformer switchgear and electronic micro devices. Following graduation, he was ultimately a principal engineer at Holset Engineering working on turbomachinery vibration and noise. In the late 1970's he worked on underwater weapons systems. He was at Acoustic Vibration and Technology Ltd 1980-1982 (with a short break working again on defence projects). He joined Vibronoise Ltd of Cheadle, Cheshire and was with them from 1982 to late 1995, latterly as its Managing Director. NVM purchased the main operating assets of Vibronoise Ltd early in 2000.
Lou has held senior management and positions and has gained experience across industry working on many projects at all levels both in th UK and abroad with most types of client organization. . One main area of expertise concerns structural and machinery/plant vibration. Noise and vibration issues connected with semiconductor microcircuit manufacturing facilities are particular specialties. In addition Lou has a strong interest in low frequency noise/vibration environmental effects upon people and processes and has much experience in the area of planning regarding noise and vibration, e.g. for residential, hospital, and leisure development projects.
NVM has a good working knowledge of National and International standards, codes, working procedures, computers, software, and instrumentation. The company owns much of the instrumentation employed for surveys, measurements, and tests.
